01 · Responsible entity and scope
Civic Method Lab is published for Utah Approves Education Fund. This policy applies only to the Android app. It does not govern Utah Approves' shared website, the system browser, Google Play, Android, or other external services.
02 · Educational purpose
The app provides offline lessons about civic decision methods, evidence habits, source roles, and respectful discussion. It is not a government service, election authority, voting system, voter-registration service, official ballot, campaign platform, or legal service.
03 · Information stored locally
The app may store completed-note identifiers, the last opened note, up to four Compare Board method identifiers, and the reduced-motion preference in private app preferences on this device. These items do not require a name or account.
04 · Information the app does not collect
The app does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, political affiliations, candidate preferences, voting history, eligibility information, precise location, contacts, photos, files, camera or microphone content, health data, financial data, advertising identifiers, or device identifiers.
05 · Permissions
The app requests no Internet permission and no dangerous or sensitive Android permission. It does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, phone, SMS, notification, storage, photo, Bluetooth, or nearby-device access.
06 · No accounts or remote service
There is no account, login, cloud profile, user upload, chat, public profile, social feed, server database, or app-operated remote account. Account creation and account deletion therefore do not apply.
07 · No ads, analytics, or tracking
The app contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, crash-reporting SDK, behavioral measurement, attribution, cross-app tracking, targeted advertising, or personalized political content.
08 · Sharing, sale, and third parties
The app does not send app-created local state to Utah Approves Education Fund or sell, rent, share, or disclose it to advertisers, data brokers, political parties, candidates, campaigns, government agencies, or other third parties.
09 · External source and contact links
A deliberate tap may open a clearly labeled source or contact page in the device's browser. The app does not fetch that page itself. The browser and destination may process data under their own policies; review those policies before submitting information.
10 · Civic and political privacy
Do not enter or record another person's political opinions in this app. The app has no free-text field and does not build political profiles, infer ideology, recommend candidates or parties, target persuasion, or retain discussion responses.
11 · Children and families
The content is written for general audiences and older teens, not designed for young children. The app has no messaging, public posting, targeted ads, purchases, location, or data collection. A parent, guardian, or educator should decide whether civic topics are appropriate for a younger learner.
12 · Retention
Local preferences remain until the user resets the desk, clears app storage, or uninstalls the app. The publisher does not maintain a server copy and cannot retrieve local progress from a lost or replaced device.
13 · Deletion and reset
Reset My Desk deletes app-created completion marks, last-note state, Compare Board selections, and the motion preference. Android's Clear storage control and uninstall also remove app-local data subject to operating-system behavior.
14 · Backups and device transfer
Android cloud backup and device-transfer extraction are disabled for this app. Device manufacturers and operating systems remain outside the publisher's control, so users should still protect physical and system access to their devices.
15 · Security
The app minimizes risk by avoiding accounts, network transmission, sensitive permissions, and third-party SDKs. Local app storage is protected by Android's application sandbox, but no device or software can be guaranteed completely secure.
16 · User choices and accessibility
Users may browse without marking notes, remove Compare Board cards, enable reduced motion, reset all local state, avoid external links, clear storage, or uninstall. Text scaling and system accessibility tools are supported where Android provides them.
17 · Policy and content changes
A future version that changes data handling, permissions, SDKs, network behavior, or app functions must update the in-app and public policies, store listing, and Google Play declarations before release. Material changes will be identified by a new effective date.

Privacy or support questions may be submitted through the official contact page at https://www.utahapproves.org/contact. For current election information, use the relevant government election authority; the app's policy contact is not an election-help service.
